Do I Know You by CJ Vermote

~  Synopsis  ~

Sara lives in Washington State and as a young woman knows the meaning of tragedy. With an inheritance most of us can only dream of, she takes a vacation and finds herself face to face with Rob, a childhood boyfriend.
What appears to be a chance meeting with Rob is anything but that. Though Sara has dreams and intuitions she should be listening to, she ignores them and allows the fast paced romance with Rob, a man she should not trust, lead to marriage. Sara loves her new life until tragedy strikes, leaving her to fight for her life…alone.

~  Review  ~

Sara has had a rough go at it, so she decides that a break from the daily hustle and bustle is in order. She sets off for a beautiful coastal town in the Pacific Northwest for a few weeks of rest and relaxation. While walking on the beach she meets a sweet elderly couple that take her under their wing as the loving grand daughter they never had. In fact, Sue and Jim ended up becoming a special part of her life.
Also while there, she meets the young and incredibly handsome Rob. It turns out that they share a connection for long ago. They were once childhood sweethearts many, many years ago. While they start to reconnect, they fall into a whirlwind romance. Sara is swept off her feet by Rob's charm. Everything he says and does just sets her heart aflutter. In fact, she falls so hard and fast for him that she agrees to marry him after just a few weeks of dating. But can a love that shoots off so fast be ever lasting?
Sara believes she's met her mate in Rob, but not long after their swift nuptials, things start to go awry. Sara is falling ill, and her new husband is acting a bit out of the ordinary. She's having nightmares that lead to suspicions. Maybe she shouldn't have rushed into a hasty marriage with a man she really knows very little about, especially since she's about to inherit millions. Will she figure out what's going on before it's too late, or will her rash decisions cost her very own life?
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the secondary characters. I want Sue and Jim to take me in as their grand daughter as well! I loved her loyal friends Brandon and Linda. Everyone should have friends as adoring and devoted as them. The plot flowed well. You really sat in pins and needles waiting to see what would happen. Rob is the ultimate villain. You fall for him right along with Sara until you really see what he's capable of. The only thing that I think would have made it better was if the ending were a little more fleshed out. I wanted to know more about what happens with the law firm that Rob works for and how everyone handled the double life he was leading. I think that would have made the story perfect. It was just a bit too abrupt for my tastes. However, I did enjoy the epilogue. It's nice to see what has transpired with some of the characters later on down the line. I definitely look forward to reading more stories by CJ Vermote!
