Phoibe (Omega Beginnings Miniseries Book 3)
By Lizzy Ford

~ Synopsis ~

With a speech impediment and learning disability, the frail six-year-old Crown Princess of Greece is constantly being told she’ll never live up to the woman her mother was. She’s the only descendent of the sacred Bloodline, the royal family touched by the Greek Gods ten thousand years before, and protected by international law.

But Phoibe doesn’t care about any of that. She wants to be loved by someone, and that someone is a mysterious shadow named Lantos who talks to her when no one else will.

Before leaving, the gargoyle Mismatch made her promise never to speak aloud again, or she’ll seal her fate, and the family curse will claim her. She obeys him – and faces the wrath of cruel caretakers sworn to ensure the curse comes to pass.

When Mismatch doesn’t return to save her, young Phoibe must make her first grown-up decision: accept the curse or trust the shadowy creature who tries to help her.

~Review ~

This is the 3rd book in Lizzy Ford's OMEGA Beginnings Miniseries. Alessandra is the first book, and Mismatch is the second. I have thoroughly enjoyed each of them.

This book focuses on a sweet little girl that's facing some really big issues. Phoibe is being groomed  her for her role as the Crown Princess of Greece. She longs to become as incredible as the woman her mother was, but because of her speech impediment, the High Priestess has been mistreating an abusing her. She has found a comfort in a ghostly creature name Lantos. He is her only true friend until Mismatch shows up. He makes a promise to return for her and bring her to safety. He also bring a warning: Do not speak until he returns for her, or she something terrible will come to pass. But trouble abounds, and something must be done. When Mismatch doesn't come back as promised, she's faced with a life altering decision. Does she speak and seal her fate as the others before her have done, or will she put her trust in her shadow friend Lantos?

Each book in this series bring more action than the last. The characters really pull at your heart strings. I can't wait to see what happens in book 4 of this miniseries!

**  Review  **

The Sicarii is a compilation of the first 4 serials in the Hired Gun series. Even though this is a collection of shorter stories combined, it reads like one fluid book. I have read and enjoyed other books by the same authors and loved them all. This is no exception. I love how the book combines Greek and Norse mythology in modern day times. This is something I've never read before, and it's a refreshing twist.

Thorne Hollow is a stone cold killer for hire. It's his job, and he's good at it. He takes pleasure in ending the existence of the lowest of the low. On his down time he goes through women like Paula Dean goes through butter. He never lets a woman stay the night. Once he's gotten his fill, he shoves them out the door, with or without their clothes. It all changes the night that 'SHE' walks into his favorite bar. There's something about her that he can't quite put his finger on. She intrigues him like no other. For the first time, he finally lets someone spend the night. But when he wakes up in the morning to a major surprise, he can't believe his eyes. He doesn't know what to do. He's tempted to end her life but tosses her out instead. Who is this beautiful creature that has him so bewitched? While he's digging up dirt on her, he is tasked with the ultimate job, and the fate of the world as we know it relies his ability to complete it.  He also learns that this woman is tied to his assignment. Will he be able to fulfill his mission, or will this odd woman throw a wrench in his plans and change the outcome?

Thorne is a complex character. I didn't fall in love with him right off the bat. He kind of grew on me like moss grows on a tree. You know it's not the best for the tree, but it looks pretty and helps you find a true north. His 'better than you' attitude and womanizing ways make him less than desirable, but you kind of feel sorry for him when you learn what has hardened his heart. I enjoyed the supporting characters. Nike was such a hoot. I have a real soft spot for Benny, and I look forward to reading more of his story in the future. I can't wait to see what else AJ Bennett and Julia Crane have in store for us in the future!
